Wind Carved Snow Drift
South Dakota has wind, and a lot of it.
Many times the wind causes damage, but it also creates beauty in the snow and carves sculptures on the south side of the prairie hills.
I created this photograph right after sunset to give the image soft light. It was a few days past our first major snow storm of 2015.
I’m always amazed at how the wind sculpts the snow. A temporary piece of art crafted by intricate design.
