Choosing to capture the 2017 eclipse from her own ranch, Cristen ventured out into the pastures near her home. Wanting to show placement of the moon with the earth, she chose this composition that gives the scope of the cattle dotted landscape and the beauty of the partial eclipse. Creating a composite of two images taken back to back, one of the landscape and one as a close up of the moon, she created this portrayal of what was seen on the western South Dakota prairie during this phenomenon.
